I have been sewing since I could hold a needle in my hand. When I was a child I used to ask my Mum for her old dresses to cut up to make my dolls' clothes. I've made most of my own clothes over the years as well as for friends. Now my love of fabric has extended to all things quilting.
Always good to remember those who defend us. I came across a recipe in my recipe box a while ago for ANZAC Cookies. I don't remember where I got it and I've never made them. I'm thinking it came from an international recipe exchange in one of my children's classroom. I thought of you!
Living in the States, I had to google ANZAC. This day of remembrance for you is like Veterans Day in the US, celebrated on November 11th. It celebrates the service of all veterans. Memorial Day in the US, is a day to remember and honor all men and women who died while in service. It is held the 4th Monday of May. I appreciate learning about your special day of recognition for Australian and New Zealand veterans.
Your little quilt glows Merilyn, your colours planned to bring out the best in each other. I love the way that you use colour and often peruse your blog for "advice". You must be having a bit of fun revisiting your quilting "past", finishing these ufos and enjoying the memories associated with each one. Would you recommend the new books that you bought?

A day to remember and honor is a blessing. I always think of my grandfather on Veterans' Day in the US. He fought in WWII on the USS Guam navy ship.
